The Salvation Army of Philadelphia is the January mission of the month. Their mission is to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination. The Salvation Army’s programming operates from 16 community centers and residential facilities throughout the Philadelphia region through programs such as soup kitchens, homeless day care services, overnight shelters, rehabilitation centers, and daily meals. They are on the front-lines of the fight against hunger, providing food packages and warm meals to people in need and are struggling to meet the high demand for assistance during these troubling economic times. The Salvation Army’s social services encompass a wide range of programs to help individuals and families overcome daunting obstacles. Motivated by the love of God, as a leader in Christian faith-based human services, The Salvation Army is committed to serve the whole person, body and soul, with integrity and respect, using creative solutions to positively transform lives. The Army receives some assistance from the national mission and the government but approximately half of its budget is provided from local organizations and churches like ours, so please give generously to this worthy cause that helps so many.
