World Vision is a Christian organization working to help communities lift themselves out of poverty. For Good. They form an international partnership of Christians whose mission is to follow our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in working with the poor and oppressed to promote human transformation, seek justice, and bear witness to the good news of the Kingdom of God. They achieve their mission goals through integrated, holistic commitment to:
Transformational development that is community-based and sustainable, focused especially on the needs of children.
Emergency relief that assists people afflicted by conflict or disaster.
Promotion of justice that seeks to change unjust structures affecting the poor among whom we work.
Partnerships with churches to contribute to spiritual and social transformation.
Public awareness that leads to informed understanding, giving, involvement, and prayer.
Witness to Jesus Christ by life, deed, word, and sign that encourages people to respond to the Gospel.
This year we plan to use part of the monthly collection to continue our sponsorship of Omar Waly Diodio from Senegal, West Africa. Omar lives with his parents, 3 brothers, and a sister. His parents struggle to provide for the family. His father is a farm laborer and his mother is a housewife. Their community faces chronic food insecurity while diseases such as malaria and diarrhea often threaten the lives of children. Omar is in a primary school where he enjoys reading and likes to play soccer. He helps at home by running errands. We will also use the remaining funds from this month’s mission collection to provide various gifts to the children’s villages suffering with sickness and poverty. Our gifts will specifically provide animals and fruit trees for the villages, AIDS education, and food and medical attention for hungry African children. Please consider giving to this worthy cause.
